The Bahamas
June 2015:
Grand Bahamas Island
Time: 4 days
Grand Bahamas Island is a quiet, populous island in the Bahamas. The people are very friendly and there is a lot to do. I stayed in a very nice hotel right on the harbor: Pelican Bay Resort at Lucaya. The hotel provided private boat transport to a secluded beach, Taino Beach, which was very nice. I also had an excursion where I went underwater cave snorkeling and kayaking in a freshwater lake. Tons of restaurants and shopping in a large outdoor marketplace near all the main hotels, everything was walking distance. My trip included a roundtrip, first class, flight to Grand Bahamas Island, four night stay in a suite with kitchenette, daily breakfast, free boat transport to beach, and free wifi and I paid less than $400 total. Other hotels nearby are more expensive but offer bundled alcohol packages, so keep this in mind when choosing what hotel is best for you. Four days seemed like just the right amount of time on the island. Additional days would have resulted in more beach lounging, but less than four days would have felt rushed.

March 2017:
Nassau & Freeport cruise
TIME: 7 Days (two at sea)
My senior year spring break vacation gone wrong...
I had a cruise booked to Mexico, Belize, Honduras, & The Cayman Islands. Two days before our cruise departed Carnival Cruise Lines emailed us, informing of our ship having technical difficulties. The email stated that the issues should be resolved and everything should be fine. Wrong. We ended up stuck in the Bahamas for a week. We were heavily compensated as all the cruise passengers were furious. Nonetheless, Nassau and Freeport were nice and the weather was good. A week might be too long in the Bahamas as attractions and excursions are not as numerous as other islands in the Caribbean. Most cruise lines know that this is true because most Bahamas cruises are 2-5 days at maximum.
The Nassau cruise port is very commercial and there are many shops and restaurants to keep you busy. A short walk through the local businesses will take you to a less commercialized area of the city. A few more minutes walking will bring you to Junkanoo Beach, which is very nice and spread out. Water is super clear and palm trees are plentiful. Make sure you get some coconut water to hydrate yourself on a hot day from any beach vendor. Luckily, we still had our cruise ship for overnight lodging, so I did not have to worry about finding a hotel on the island.
