2016 Study Abroad trip

In the summer of 2016 I was lucky enough to be able to study Communications abroad in Spain. I chose to go to school at The Universidad de Alicante in Alicante, Spain. Alicante is a large coastal city that offers beaches, a marina, tons of shopping, museums, a castle, restaurants, bars, and clubs everywhere you look. Being the 8th biggest city in Spain, you would expect Alicante to feel like any other large city, but I felt very welcomed by the locals and the community felt very close-knit. While in Alicante I traveled to Germany, Portugal, and many other Spanish cities. By train, bus, and car I really got to experience all of Spain rather than just Alicante and the surrounding area. Alicante is, and always will be, my favorite place in Europe, but I might be a little biased.

Spain Attractions:

Guadalest: A mountainous area with castles, crystal clear lakes, and local villages.

Calpe: A Mediterranean beach city with water as blue as the sky and an enormous rock mountain right on the sand.

Altea: The white city. A ton of buildings lining the beach all in uniform white style.

Madrid: The capital of Spain and the largest Spanish city. Museums and historical parks and architecture line the streets of Madrid. There are millions of people, but you never feel crowded and English isn't hard to find if you don't speak any Spanish.

Alicante: The views from the Castle are once-in-a-lifetime. Must see. Take the tram to San Juan beach for miles of clean Mediterranean coastline. The "bar" neighborhood is also quite exciting in Alicante. Just remember that it is Spain so the clubs don't open until 1, 2 or even 3am. You will stay out super late, but your siesta the next day will help you recoup.
